Hi everybody,
Just a word from me to tell you that our record Vantage Point is finished, it was recorded in
Antwerp in our brand new studio by the same name. Release is set for April 21st. We’ll tour in Europe in April and May, playing smaller clubs in the big cities. The plan is then to attack the
summerfestivals and return for a more extensive tour in the autumn. I can’t wait to go on the road again.
Vantage Point was produced by Dave McCracken and mixed by Joe Hirst. Two young but experienced Englishmen who never stopped working until they got it right. I think they like the Belgian food
too. Only problem was, Dave beat me at playing pool and made me lose a lot of money. I’m never gonna work with him again.
The line-up is the same as last tour and I think it shows. We’re sounding like a damn tight outfit if you ask me. Some songs are loud and groovy, others, like ‘Smokers Reflect’ and ‘Eternal
Woman’ are as melody-driven as you’ve ever heard us. We experimented a lot with the voices so expect some fucked up Gregorian chants over Stef’s and Alan’s rhythm-section. We also welcomed some
distinguished guests. There’s Lies Lorquet from Mintzkov, who sings as beautifully and understated as ever. We’re all secretly in love with her. Then there’s Guy Garvey from Elbow, who sent his
vocal straight from the Massive Attack studio where he was working and turned ‘The Vanishing Of Maria Schneider’ into and old-world, super-romantic Technicolor lovesong. And last but not least,
there’s Karin Dreijer Andersson from The Knife, who flew from Stockholm to guest on ‘Slow’. She’s got a unique voice and we’re all really proud she delivered so passionately.
By the way, I’m finishing the video for that song right now, and it will be presented to you on our new site. You will be able
to download it for free in the highest resolution soon. In short: I can’t wait until you hear and see all of this and of course, I hope you like it like we do.
See ya soon,
Tom

On y voit,

What is the architect doing?
He is by the riverside
What is he thinking out there?
He is committing egoside
Now isn’t that a strange thing?
Well to him it feels just
Well we guess a person’s gotta do,
What a person feels he must
He said:
I won’t throw myself from the pier
I’m gonna go home and shut up for a year
And when that year is over I’ll reappear
And have a solution
I’ve reason to believe that what I find
Is gonna change the face of human kind
And all these years before well I was blind
That’s my conclusion
Cause I’m the architect
Now the man has understood
That outer space is overrated
About all the problems on this earth we should
Worry now to solve them later
And so he’s brooding and alluding on a perfect design
He thinks that working on behalf of himself is a crime
He flashes out by the water, a view so divine
He’s the architect of his own fate, a man in his prime
He said:
I won’t throw myself from the pier
I’m gonna go home and shut up for a year
And when that year is over I’ll reappear
And have a solution
I’ve reason to believe that what I find
Is gonna change the face of human kind
And all these years before well I was blind
That’s my conclusion
Cause I’m the architect
And so he drew himself a pentagon
Thinking it through a geodesic dome
From the coast of Tahiti, to the hills of Rome
Step aside cause the man will take the Nobel prize home
He said:
I won’t throw myself from the pier
I’m gonna go home and shut up for a year
And when that year is over I’ll reappear
And have a solution
Now if these aspirations bother you
Well you are just you, you don’t have a clue
I’m sticking to the plan I will see it through
Let there be no confusion
Cause I’m the architect

Slow, will be the tempo of the restless soul
You seen what a listless life can bring
Wait, and then waits until he's waiting for
The lateness of everything
Slow, will be the rhythm of the mumming bird
The quick speed and the shutter of his eyes
On flowers he will pose and me will spread the word
On how the world is slowly passing by
Slow, in the tiredness of your control
Of the moment that is nearly standing still
Delayed for a minute and not a second more
Then fades like a forbidden thrill
Gently behind the beat
We shuffle on ancient streets
The reverb of time
Is our vantage point
We slept for a million years
Lived through a million fears
We are not nervous
We will not ask for more
If you can slow up
I'm gonna slow up too
Slow like the kissing of a lazy cheek
Like the limit and the deadline of the rush
And words, words waiting for you to speak
Or getting lost in your eternal crush
Slow will be the tempo of the restless mind
He's seen what a listless life can bring
Wait and then he waits until he's waiting for
The lateness of everything
Gently behind the beat
We shuffle on ancient streets
The reverb of time
Is our vantage point
We slept for a million years
Lived through a million fears
We are not nervous
We will not ask for more
Pawns of the troubled times
And kings of our petty crimes
The minds will function with
A small delay
See what the past has planned
The future's a beggar's hand
The more we understand
The slower our days
If you can slow up
I'm gonna slow up too
